Challenges and Opportunities for future engineers

Tan Tao University

Tan Tao University (TTU) is the first Private Non-Profit US-style university in Vietnam, which offers curriculum completely taught in English with the latest update from curriculum of Duke University, one of the most prestigious university in U.S. and in the world. Besides, Tan Tao University is also the first Vietnamese university that is pursuing the university accreditation of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges with the support of Duke University, and meets the requirements of the American Board of Engineering & Technology (ABET). Therefore, the School of Engineering of TTU assure to provide high quality education and training to students.

The School of Engineering has been established and developed in accordance with the U.S. standards with laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art equipments, and all of its faculty members are professors and doctors graduating from world’s renowned universities and institutes. They have obtained many achievements and awards in scientific studies and instruction. Given wide relationship of TTU’s faculty, its students will have more opportunities to exchange, communicate and work with professors from prominent universities and institutes worldwide, and to participate in research projects conducted by the faculty.

TTU's students participate in the Seaweed Science Research Project on Tan Thanh Beach, TienGiang Province. The project sponsored by U.S. Government carries out research of devices for converting sea wave into electricity.

Since 2011, faculty and students from the School of Engineering have conducted seven scientific research projects, including five projects sponsored by the National Foundation for the Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED), one project sponsored by USAID and one project co-sponsored by the Illinois University and U.S. Navy. At the same time, its faculty have also had 56 articles published in international science magazines, including 29 articles published in the most popular science magazines rated by SCI. With such outstanding achievement in scientific research, faculty from the School of Engineering have been granted two national awards of science by Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics and Vietnamese Theoretical Physical Society.

Currently, School of Engineering offers two majors:

- Computer Science: provides students with fundamental knowledge in Computer Science, critical thinking and problem solving skills by computer, administration and application development. Its graduates will become software engineers, data analyst, IT specialists, Interface designers, games developers… and have the opportunity to work in big IT corporations such as: TMA Solutions, FPT, Misfit, Adatao, Sentifi… In particular, some final year students have been recruited by prestigious IT companies with a starting part-time salary of US$ 400 – 500 per month.

- Electronics - Electrical Engineering: provides students with modern knowledge in electronics and computer. Its graduates will have the opportunity to work at leading electronics corporation in Vietnam and in the world such as: Vinaphone, Viettel, Samsung, Intel…

Besides, TTU has always received a strong support from Tan Tao Group, a leading developer of industrial parks across the country accommodating a number of large-scale electronics manufacturing factories from Japan and Korea, who have committed to recruiting all graduates from the School of Engineering.
